Drama and Show Reviews

Just caught the newest addition to the DC films, Justice League! Honestly I'm not so much a DC fan except for when it came to suicide squad, but i think things have been changing for the DC universe ever since Wonder Woman arrived, thanks to the solid acting from Gal Gadot and of the directors and the whole team in general. So i had decided to catch this, and I'm glad i did!

Unsurprisingly, Superman was revived and i was glad that Wonder Woman got to show off some of her skills to a greater extent cos lets face it, she's really super awesome. (though i was a little upset that she still lost to superman, but oh well). The addition of Ezra Miller to the cast as Flash was a really great choice, because his upbeat character provided some light heartedness to an otherwise relatively darker script as compared to Marvel (there were actual casualties, unlike in Marvel). He was funny and entertaining, and somehow provided a sense of warmth to the whole team of experienced superheroes.

A few jabs to Batman's lack of power were made throughout the film, and there were various hints as to how his old body cannot keep up with the crime-fighting Batman. Perhaps this will spell different times ahead?

Overall, i enjoyed the movie even though you sort of expect the ending, but hey, that's what superhero films are about right? The good guy (almost) always wins, and i didn't expect any less from a whole band of them fighting against a great evil. I'm looking forward to seeing future DC films!!

In case you haven't caught the latest Thor movie, i highly recommend you to catch it sometime now or later!!! Admittedly I'm a total Marvel fan, so naturally i follow and support all Marvel movies. BUT i must say this one really takes the cake (even my non-Marvel friends found it really good?! My other friend who usually FALLS ASLEEP in action movies actually kept awake during this one and laughed along at the jokes). So yes!

From the start, it had been light hearted, dotted with witty conversations with the supposed "bad people", and the likes. Im going to skip giving a summary of how the story went (though i thought the Dr Strange part was really strange, and seemed a little out of place), and go right into how i felt about it and my take on it.

One thing that stood out in this movie for me was the fact that the iconic things about Thor are starting to be stripped from him. Namely:
1. His long hair
2. His hammer
3. His perfectly-in-tact body?!
His hair was cut off before he went into battle with Banner, and his hammer was crushed by his evil sister, and his eye ripped out from its socket and now he bears a greater resemblance to his father. I thought it was really unconventional how all these iconic things were taken from him, what makes Thor Thor, what makes him recognisable. Honestly, i didn't read the comics so I'm not so sure if all these are the same, but i know there is going to be a new female Thor (is it going to be Tessa Thompson?), so i was wondering if they were stripping him of his identity to prepare for this takeover...haha!

Overall, really good movie to catch. not a boring moment, it is fun, funny, and certainly entertaining. A good one!

A good show to watch if youre looking for a thriller on a girls' night sleepover, or with your loved one cuddled in bed! I admit i watched this in the cinema and probably was the only person there screaming my head off, but that's what makes watching it fun (for me, not for the person I'm watching with).

Be prepared for jump scares and a twist to the ending (no spoilers here!). It was pretty poetic how this movie set on Tree's death day on her birthday. Don't expect any deep storylines, this isn't that kind of show. But it's really exciting and thrilling, and i really couldn't keep that image of that masked killer out of my head when i went to sleep that night.

I thought Jessica Rothe (Tree) did a really good job portraying her role as the confident, outgoing (albeit a bit slutty) girl, who is honestly really brave in the movie?? like even though she knew she was going to get killed she was really adventurous and went out late at night, alone, looking for the killer. I was yelling to my friend beside me that she should just stay with a friend or family the whole day to be safe, but i guess characters in horror movies just aren't like normal people.

Overall, thumbs up for a fun, no-need-to-think-so-much kinda show, great for watching with friends and family!! (Please DO NOT watch alone unless youre a super brave horror show junkie).

wow. just wow. the nicest kdrama i've watched in a while. Despite disappointingly low ratings, this show received the highest praises from my close friends who recommended i watch it.

The show revolves around Hae Soo time travelling back to the olden times where she meets the fourth prince, Wang So, and falls in love etc. There is just some allure about a guy whose face is half covered by the mask? So mysterious and charming hahaha. and his jawline is just like woah.

Be prepared for a roller coaster of emotions, especially at the end!!!! Storyline was good and filled with exciting moments, unexpected surprises, and lots of heartbreak. At the end, due to his pride and ego, he refused to read the letters sent to him by Hae Soo and the regret when he found out after she died was just so...sad.

The playfulness from the princes at the start, bright and cheery, slowly disintegrated and turned into something much darker by the end, due to everyone's greed in wanting the burden of the throne. The only downside is the downplaying of Hae Soo's personality - at the start, she was a wilful and headstrong girl who did what she wanted and said whatever she felt like. By the end, she just accepted everything passively and hardly showed any personality, which was quite sad tbh. But other than that, 10/10 would recommend!!

I admit, i wasn't so keen on starting on this drama after watching all the short and sweet snippets of the drama on my Facebook feed. Everything points to Bok Joo and Joon Hyung being the cutest couple ever, and it was going to wreck my expectation of guys in the future. But of course, i succumbed in the end and i was right! Joon Hyung WAS the ultimate, perfect boyfriend that is probably non-existent in real life.

The drama revolves around Bok Joo's school life, which mainly involves weightlifting, helping out with her father's chicken shop, and pigging out with her friends. Light hearted and comedic, i was certainly immersed into every episode. The clever use of additional music cues like the "WHAT!" at funny moments was totally appropriate and really just made me LOL.

Bok Joo was a very cool girl, not caring about her appearance and the friendship between her and her two friends is one to be envied. I thought there would have been more politics between the weightlifters and the gymnasts after the first few episodes, but the later part of the drama diverted away from that. Joon Hyung was the ultimate sweet boyfriend type, from buying Bok Joo heat packs when the weightlifters held a protest in the cold winter, to visiting and taking care of her father when he was sick. He also has the patience of a saint LOL. Way to go for raising the already unrealistic expectations girls have of their boyfriends!!

While the plot was devoid of any major storyline, i guess the main aim of the show was just to be a light hearted one. The chemistry between the cast was amazing, and that contributed to it being such a fun show to watch! With strong support and performance from the supporting cast, coupled with the youthful energy from the main cast, it was certainly a good watch!!
